Kinesio Taping

Kinesio TapingKinesio-Taping is a technique used for rehabilitative treatment and helps to facilitate the body’s natural healing process by providing stability and support to joints and muscles. It does this without restricting your range of motion. Kinesio-Taping also provides soft tissue manipulation which extends the benefits of manual therapy.

Kinesio Tape can be worn for several days at a time and has been used safely for people of all ages. It is used to treat a wide variety of neurological, neuromuscular, and orthopedic conditions. The latex free material helps to relieve pain and encourage lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin while worn. By microscopically lifting the skin more space is formed in the interstitial space which aids in lymphatic drainage. When placed by a therapist the Kinesio Tape targets receptors within the somatosensory system which alleviates pain and helps the body heal.

Kinesio-Taping can be used in conjunction with other therapies. It has been proven to be beneficial in treatment of the fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, lymphatic and circulatory system, and skin. It is used for rehabilitative therapy and as a treatment for chronic conditions as well as for injuries and preventative treatment.

Once Dr. Mac has evaluated and assessed your condition he will place the “I” shaped strips in the best place and configuration to treat your condition. The strips may be placed singly or in an “X” or “Y” shape. Dr. Mac is able to configure and place the Kinesio-Taping to meet your needs and facilitate the goals set forth through therapy. During the evaluation and assessment Dr. Mac may measure your range of motion, gait, balance, and any other tests he feels is necessary to formulate your therapy regime.

Kinesio-Taping is a proven and safe therapy technique which has helped many people find relief from pain, speed healing, and aid in rehabilitation, treat injuries, and chronic conditions.
